The Crystal Method: The Crystal Method Week RecapPosted on December 28, 2015
We’re roaming down memory lane in honor of the 20th Anniversary Signature Box Set. Last week we spent time going over all of the memories we made while releasing The Crystal Method.
The origins of Community Service.
We started doing Community Service Radio every Friday night on the Los Angeles radio station Indie 103.1 in the mid-2000’s. Then in the fall of 2011 we moved to Sirius XM’s Electric Area where you can now hear us play every Monday and Wednesday night.
Ken’s favorite tour memory.
“One of my (Ken) favorite tour memories was the summer of 1998. We were performing at our first HFStival. The line up was massive that year: The Foo Fighters, Green Day, the B-52’s, Liquid Todd. We got the last performance slot on the MainStage. Typically artists don’t want the last performing slot because there’s a chance your set could be bumped if the show got too far behind. But we wanted the last spot because we would roll out our crazy strobe infused light show and just blow people away. Our Crew worked tirelessly all day to make sure the other acts went on stage on time so we could get our full set in. When we finally got on stage, there was 60,000 people in the crowd – it was one of the biggest crowds we ever got to play for. It was magic; great set, great crowd, wonderful event.”
The Rarities Collection.
The Rarities Collection in the 20th Anniversary Box Set is an amalgamation of different tracks we found in our massive DAT collection stretching back to 1994. It was really hard to narrow it down to the final 8 that made it into the Box Set, but I think we came up with a great mix of old and recent tracks. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
